Donating Books to the Friends

Until further notice, small book donations will be accepted on WEDNESDAYS between 10am and 4:30pm. (For clarification, a small book donation would fill no more than a single bankers box or 2 paper grocery bags.)  Please drop off your donations to the marked bin underneath the Curbside Pickup table outside the main entrance.

Typically, the Friends gratefully accept donations of used books that are in good to excellent condition.  The most desirable donations are recent publications and DVDs.

The Friends’ DO NOT accept the following:

  • Religious materials
  • Reader’s Digest Condensed Books
  • Textbooks
  • Encyclopedias
  • Magazines (including National Geographic)
  • Videos (VHS)
  • Cassette tapes (music or books on cassette)
  • Badly worn, musty or water damaged books

If you have a large amount of books to donate, please call the library at (860) 582-3121 to make special arrangements for drop-off.  We are happy to accept large donations at a mutually convenient time.
