CANCELLED – Internet Basics: Lesson 1, Connecting to the Internet
Due to inclement weather, this program has been cancelled. This content will be integrated into future Internet Basics lessons.
Students will learn how to navigate an internet browser, learn how to formulate search terms to produce a successful result, and differentiate between safe websites and those with possible malware or viruses. Classes will be held twice a week for 4 and a half weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-3:15pm. You may attend all classes or individual classes based on the content being covered.
Today’s lesson focuses on:
- Identifying the different ways that a person can connect to the internet.
- Demonstrating knowledge of browsers and identify commonly used browsers.
- Identifying top-level domains (e.g. .edu, .gov, .com.)
- Identifying the address bar and demonstrate an understanding of its functionality.
