March 21 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)
Free

Students will learn how to navigate an internet browser, learn how to formulate search terms to produce a successful result, and differentiate between safe websites and those with possible malware or viruses.  Classes will be held twice a week for 4 and a half weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-3:15pm.  You may attend all classes or individual classes based on the content being covered.

Today’s lesson focuses on:

  1. Demonstrating understanding of how to use browser tools and settings to protect privacy (e.g. private browser windows, clearing search history, and declining to save passwords on shared computers)
  2. Demonstrating understanding of when it’s safe and appropriate to share personal, private, or financial information (e.g. recognizing phishing attempts, identifying unsecured websites)

To register for this or other digital literacy classes , please call the Library at 860-583-4467 or visit the Reference Desk.  You may be asked to complete an assessment to determine your present skill level and identify your individual learning path.

This program is made possible through partnership with the CT State Library.   Northstar Digital Literacy helps learners build and verify basic digital skills.
