Issues & Ideas: A Discussion of Contemporary Culture
April 8, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Social Issues and the Arts explored through a variety of genres, primarily non-fiction, but including fiction, plays, poetry, and podcasts as well as the daily news. For the discussion, choose from our highlighted works, and explore further through a longer list of resources we will provide.
In April, we kick off with an exploration of the experience of indigenous peoples of America. Future topics include Food (slow food, farm-to-table, farmers markets, CSAs, hunger), The Polish experience in Connecticut (immigration, politicians, neighborhoods, impact on the state), and other topics to be chosen by the group. Our emphasis will be on lively discussion based on issues rather than a specific book.
